Rather than having to undergo treatment, it is best to avoid kidney stones in the first place. Kidney stones typically occur in formerly healthy men aged between 30 and 50. For women, the prevalence of kidney stones peaks in their 50s. Kidney stones vary in size, with most of them being small enough to pass through the urinary tract for elimination in the urine. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. Kidney stones often cause no pain while they are in the kidneys, but they can cause sudden, severe pain as they travel from the kidneys to the bladder.

You may not want to hear this yet again, but one of the best ways to prevent or relieve kidney stones is to drink more water. A lot more water. By increasing the amount of water you drink, your body is better able to flush the kidney stones out of your body, or prevent them from forming entirely in the first place.

When you don't drink enough water, germs and bacteria are able to linger inside your kidneys and create infections or stones. By drinking extra water though, your body is able to continuously flush those germs and bacteria from your system before they have time to start creating a kidney stone or infection.

Caucasians are more prone to develop kidney stones than African Americans. In addition, more than 70 percent of people with a rare hereditary disease called renal tubular acidosis develop kidney stones.

Kidney stones are accumulations of waste materials from your body. Usually the stones are created by calcium deposit build up, but sometimes they can be created by too much protein or because you've had chronic urinary infections. These deposits can be kept from forming though, by keeping them diluted with extra water.

You don't have to drink plain water all day, but that is the best natural way to help prevent or treat kidney stone problems. Drink at least a half gallon of plain water each day if at all possible. You can add real lemon juice to the water if you'd like, and this will give you flavor plus it will provide your body with a way to help keep kidney stones from forming, because lemon juice dissolves kidney stones. Lemon juice is also a natural antiseptic, which means it can help prevent bacteria from multiplying into an infection within your kidneys.

Anyone can get a kidney stone, but it may be more likely if you: Are male Are Caucasian Are very overweight Have had kidney infections Have a family member with kidney stones Have had kidney stones before Eat a lot of animal protein (such as meat and eggs) Do not drink enough fluids Some other conditions and medicines can also put you at greater risk for kidney stones. A kidney stone can be as small as a grain of sand to as big as 1in. A kidney stone may cause other symptoms, such as blood in the urine (hematuria), pain when urinating, or a severe need to urinate. A kidney stone can even rupture the collection system of the kidney. People who have had a kidney stone have a chance of having another one, so prevention measures are important.

You can also drink other types of teas and juices if you'd like, because these are sources of liquid and liquid is the primary thing your body needs to keep your kidneys healthy. Try to avoid drinks with excessive amounts of sugar though, because they create a large variety of additional health problems which will eventually lead to creating kidney problems too.

If you also drink caffeinated tea or coffee each day, you'll need to drink extra water. Caffeine dehydrates your body, and if you're dehydrated you'll be more prone to developing kidney stones.

Since about 80% of kidney stones are made up of calcium oxalate, some people avoid foods high in oxalate as a natural way to avoid chronic kidney stones and infections. Foods high in oxalate include different types of berries such as blueberries and strawberries, instant coffee, chocolate, and dark leafy green vegetables.

It was once believed that avoiding calcium rich foods was also a good idea to help reduce chronic kidney stone problems, but that belief is starting to change. Some research now suggests that calcium rich foods can actually help prevent the development of kidney stones, but excessive amounts of Vitamin D or Calcium taken through supplements might cause problems because standard supplements are not absorbed well by your body.

Potassium Sorbate as Yeast Infection Treatment

If you like to brew your own beer then chances are that you will have some potassium sorbate lying around the house. And if you don’t, you can always find some quite easily in places that sell home brewing products. Of course you can also find it in natural food stores, but it is definitely more colorful to be able to tell someone to get there potassium sorbate from a home brewing supply store!

Anyway the whole reason that you want potassium sorbate in the first place is because it stops the growth of yeast in their tracks, so to speak. It’s known as a highly effective fungicide, and is used in the process of brewing beer to stop the yeast from growing when it’s no longer needed for the fermentation process.

On an added note, if you look on the labels of some preserved foods, you might find that potassium sorbate is listed as one of the preservatives. This is naturally enough to suppress the growth of fungus or other harmful bacteria in the food.

The way to take potassium sorbate as a cure for yeast infections is very simple really.

Use:	1 tbsp Potassium Sorbate
1 cup Water
1 Tampon
Syringe

Dissolve the potassium sorbate in the water. Insert the tampon into the vagina and then, using the syringe, douse the tampon with the potassium sorbate solution. You can keep the tampon in overnight if you wish to, and the remedy can be repeated over several nights. However don’t go on for more than a week with this remedy.

If by that time your yeast infection hasn’t cleared up you might try another cure altogether or barring that, want to check with a doctor. Remember that none of these remedies is a substitute for proper medical advice, and since I’m not a doctor¸ you should always check with your doctor before trying any of these out.

Acidophilus as Yeast Infection Cure

Acidophilus is basically good bacteria that can be found naturally in yogurts, which is why yogurt is such a popular home remedy for curing yeast infections. However, acidophilus can also be taken by itself without the aid of yogurt, and the mess that sometimes accompanies using yogurt as a cure.

The way that it works is that the Lactobacillus Acidophilus bacteria (the good bacteria), fights the Candida Albicans bacteria (the bad bacteria) by producing lactic acid. Since the Candida bacteria, definitely does not thrive in an acidic environment, the Acidophilus will win the battle. Unless of course you give reasons for your vagina to reduce its acidity levels once again! It is said that the lactic acid produced by the Acidophilus bacteria acts like a natural antibiotic for your body.

For the most part acidophilus is available freely in most pharmacies, and if you can’t find it, just ask the staff. They should be able to point you in the right direction. And if you don’t find that the acidophilus capsules are helping you, you might want to try switching over to the powdered form, or even as a suppository.

Systematic yeast infections should be taken seriously and looked at before too much time has passed. Like I keep on mentioning on this blog, you could be suffering from some other illness and not know about it.

Besides which, if you prolong having yourself examined you could be detaining getting the proper cure for whatever else it is that you might be suffering from.

It’s always best to have a second opinion and if this second opinion is backed up by medical tests and examinations, this will tell you definitely that what you have is only a yeast infection, and you can put your mind at ease.

Systematic yeast infections can occur for a number of reasons, the chance that you might have some other medical condition. Another reason that you might get recurrent yeast infections is if you’re on medication to cure it but you stop the course before it’s fully completed. his is one thing that quite a lot of people do, and that’s to stop taking any medication once the problem starts to solve itself.

Stopping medication midway through the process will only make you more and more immune to whatever it is that you’re taking and it will also allow the yeast bacteria to keep a foothold where it can climb back from.

Recurrent yeast infections can also occur if you take antibiotics on a regular basis. Just because you cleared up one yeast infection due to the use of antibiotics, doesn’t mean that you won’t get another one when you start taking antibiotics again.

If you douche regularly the same thing applies to you as well. You might have cleared off the first attack, but by continuing to douche you will invite further yeast infections.

The regular use of scented feminine hygiene products, spermicides, and some birth control pills will all contribute to your having recurring yeast infections.

True, they can all be cleared up, and if they’re not all because of another more serious condition, then it shouldn’t matter too much, right? Wrong.

Just think about the havoc that is wreaked by having a yeast infection. Think of all the hassle that you went through just to make everything alright again.

Now think of all the little things that you could do to change your lifestyle which will have a big impact on how your body functions.

It doesn’t have to be much. Often times small changes can make a huge difference, like restraining yourself from douching, switching to unscented feminine hygiene products, and using only minimal antibiotics.

These are simple things that we can do and which we have a say over when push comes to shove. Even something as simple as having your birth control pills changed to something else can help you ward off recurrent yeast infections.

The one thing that could help but which many of us will find potentially difficult to do though, is that of changing our dietary habits. I can tell you from experience that it’s amazingly hard to let go of my processed foods, sugars, red meats, and alcohol. We’re used to this lifestyle of rich foods and to change from that to one of good foods and healthy living is not something that most people will tackle willingly.

You might think that your tight new jeans look good on you, but you’ll also have to face up to the reality that you might just be paving the way for yourself to suffer from a yeast attack.

Just as wearing those pantyhose and that synthetic manmade-fiber underwear will. Sometimes the payment for looking good is too much as you almost definitely won’t be feeling good into the bargain.

And just like the wet swimsuits that I mentioned earlier, if you’re prone to suffer from yeast infections, then the very last thing that you will want to do is to promote it.

So stay away from tight clothing that won’t let you – and your vagina – breathe, and stick as far as possible to clothing that’s loose and which will encourage a through flow of fresh air.

Remember that yeast likes to grow in places that are dark and damp. By wearing tight fitting clothing you’re giving it the very things that it needs to grow without hindrance.

The same thing goes for wearing manmade fibers. Things like underwear made of nylon definitely won’t let your vagina or other parts of you breathe the way that they should. For that you should wear natural fiber underwear, with cotton being the best of your choices.

There’s a reason that manufacturers of underwear are required to sew cotton crotches onto the underwear they manufacture. The fact that the cotton piece they put in is miniscule beyond recognition is another matter entirely. At this point it’s up to you to get yourself some good sensible cotton underwear for the duration of your infection. It might go against the grain to go cotton in your underwear selection, but this is much better than the alternative that you’re faced with.

Having said that, even though you’re wearing cotton underwear and loose fitting clothing there’s something else that you should take into account. And that’s the fact that despite all these precautions you really should change your underwear as often as possible during the times when you have a yeast infection. This leaves less time for the moisture and warmth to accumulate more yeast bacteria. And if you’re wearing a pad, tampon, or a panty liner, you should change that as frequently as possible as well.

Antibiotics can cause yeast infection

Whether it’s a constant use of antibiotics, or whether it’s as a result of a course of antibiotics that you just finished off, it can’t be denied that you could get a yeast infection.

It’s not a given that you will get a yeast infection just because you used antibiotics, but there’s a good chance that you might. And this becomes even more positive when you take into account the type of antibiotic that you were prescribed.

These generally make the balanced environment of the vagina, into an inhospitable and unbalanced area.

Organisms that would normally flourish in your vagina and your stomach would now find it difficult to thrive there, and other organisms will try and take over. It’s at this time that you would normally succumb to a yeast infection.

Yeast infections can be caused by multiple factors. It is not easy to single out a cause for yeast infection because most times there will be more than one causes that lead to yeast infection.

In this post I hope to give you some details on the key contributing factors for yeast infection, and hopefully help you find your way through the mire of information that surrounds this sticky subject.

So to that end I’ve listed the most common causes that will lead to a yeast infection.

Causes of Yeast Infection

If you’re Pregnant
Use of Antibiotics
Use of Steroids
Wrong Diet
Stress
Tight Clothing
Birth Control Pills
Menopause
Prolonged contact with Semen
Through Sexual Intercourse
Weakened Immune System
During your monthly Menstruation
Use of Douches
Use of Feminine Hygiene products
Spermicides
From Sexually Transmitted Infections

The long and short of it though is the fact that the normal environment of the vagina has been disrupted and is more receptive to the yeast producing bacteria. What all of these causes have in common is that they in someway or other change the balance of the condition of the vagina.
